Metallurg Magnitogorsk - SKA. Match day

3 February 2017

SKA will complete the final road trip of this KHL regular season with a match against reigning Gagarin Cup champions Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Aiming to retain their KHL title this year, Metallurg have been in top form during the course of the season, already confirmed winners of the Eastern Conference on 120 points. Their success has largely been down to 35 year old Sergei Mozyakin, who has been breaking all league records this campaign. The veteran forward boasts an incredible 81 points from 57 matches, scoring a huge 44 goals. He has been practically unstoppable, finding the net in virtually every game.

His line with Danis Zaripov and Jan Kovar have combined for a grand total of 187 points, but if SKA somehow manage to shut them down, Metallurg will struggle. At the other end, Metallurg have conceded 129 goals, giving their opponents plenty of shooting opportunities. First choice goalkeeper Vasily Koshechkin holds a 92.7 saves percentage, while defenseman Chris Lee has set a record for amount of points from one defenseman in a regular season: 60 (13+47). Metallurg are coming off the back of a 6:4 win over Severstal Cherepovets.

Our team followed up the 5:3 victory against Traktor with a tight 3:1 triumph in Ufa. With CSKA Moscow losing their match in Chelyabinsk, SKA's lead at the top of the table has been extended to five points.

The Metallurg Magnitogorsk - SKA match will begin at 17.00 local time. Life78, KHL TV HD and Match TV will broadcast live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
