Nikolai Puchkov tournament. SKA-Neva - Canada - 0:4

SKA-Neva, SKA's farm club, played against the Canadian national team in the 2017 Nikolai Puchkov memorial tournament third place playoff. Head coach Evgeny Popikhin was forced into one serious change, putting Konstantin Volkov between the pipes in place of Alexei Melnichuk who is with the Russian junior national team.

Unfortunately, SKA-Neva failed to pull off a huge surprise, falling to their more experienced Canadian opponents 0:4. Mat Robinson opened the scoring in the first period, before Nick Petersen doubled the Canadian advantage in the second frame. Andrew Gordon and Ryan Garbutt completed Canada's win in the third period, as they took a 4:0 victory to come third at the Nikolai Puchkov tournament.
