Slovan - SKA. Match day

17 September 2015

Following the home fixture against HC Dynamo Moscow, SKA have travelled to Slovakia to take on Slovan Bratislava in the first match of four game long away series.

Slovan were roumored to be on the brink of a KHL exit during the summer, however they managed to raise enough funds to be able to stay in the league. Financial trouble seemed to put them off last campaign as they failed to make the Gagarin Cup playoffs, but they have come back stronger this time around and currently sit in sixth place of the Western Conference. New goaltenders Barry Brust (92.5%) and Michael Garnett (92.1%) seem to have made the difference, and the Slovaks are currently on a four game winning streak having defeated Medvescak 3:2 twice, Dynamo Moscow 2:1 and HC Vityaz 5:2. Their top scorer is currently defenceman Cam Barker with eight points (2+6).

Our team couldn't complete a memorable comeback against Dynamo a couple of days ago, eventually losing out 2:4. Ilya Kovalchuk has returned to team training however, and his return should give the players a boost. Ilya Ezhov replaced Mikko Koskinen during the last match, and stopped all of the 14 shots he faced.

The Slovan - SKA match will begin at 20.30 Moscow time. 100 TV will broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events by following our official Twitter account.
