SKA - Slovan. Match day
SKA - Slovan. Match day

Today on the 28th of January, SKA will begin its next three match long home series against HC Slovan Bratislava. This will already be the third meeting between these sides this campaign, with our team undefeated so far after winning 7:2 in Saint Petersburg and 6:1 in the Slovakian capital.
Despite beginning the season well back in September Slovan have been having a torrid time of it, slipping all the way to the bottom of the Western Conference on 57 points. They are 10 away from a play-off berth, and they have to win just about every one of their remaining fixtures to have a chance. They have lost their previous five matches in a row, with four of them coming at home to HC Sochi 3:5, Dynamo Moscow 0:2, Dinamo Minsk 4:6 and Atlant 4:5. 35 year old forward Ladislav Nagy is their top scorer with 35 points, while Johan Backlund is their only goaltender to have a saves percentage over 90%.
SKA, despite falling to Salavat Yulaev Ufa 1:3 on Monday, are confidently holding to second in the same conference with 108 points, and are just three points away from CSKA Moscow in first. Viktor Tikhonov is picking up form after injury with three points (1+2) from the past five games, and goalkeeper Mikko Koskinen was yesterday announced as the week's best KHL netminder.
The SKA - Slovan match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. 100 TV and KHL TV will both broadcast the game, whereas you can also keep up to date with events by following either our matchcentre, or our twitter account.
