SKA - Severstal. Match day

SKA - Severstal. Match day

13 September 2016

SKA will return to KHL action with a home match against HC Severstal Cherepovets.

During the last few years, Severstal have become one of SKA's favourite opponents, and in the past two fixtures between these two clubs in Saint Petersburg, SKA have come out on top 6:1, with the second coming at the Nikolai Puchkov tournament this August. Severstal better be wary, and it has to be said that they have had an awful start to this campaign. The Cherepovets outfit have only one victory to their name this season, and that itself came on penalty shots. They have lost five games on the bounce, but despite such terrible form, they do have dangerous players on their roster. Forward Dmitry Kagarlitsky is their leading attacking figure with six points this season (3+3), and goaltender Jakub Kovar, who signed from Avtomobilist this summer, is expected to become Severstal's go to guy when things get tough.

Our players fell to CSKA 1:2 away, however that defeat was the first game where the team failed to register a point. SKA currently occupy seventh place in the Western Conference with 14 points, and remember that head coach Oleg Znarok and players Pavel Datsyuk, Vadim Shipachyov, Evgeny Dadonov and Mikko Koskinen are all away on World Cup duty.

The SKA - Severstal match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. Life78 and KHL TV will broadcast the game live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
