Lacklustre evening in Cherepovets

13 October 2026

It proved to be a rather forgettable evening in Cherepovets for SKA, who conceded a poor 0:2 away loss to Severstal.

Second best throughout the vast majority of the 60 minutes, our players never got to grips with the quick, tricky hosts and failed to ever really threaten.

Vsevolod Nikitin handed Severstal the lead in the 13th minute of play, firmly wristing past Artemiy Pleshkov after being sent clear by ex-SKA forward Yegor Graf.

That goal arrived after the Cherepovets-based organisation had already wasted a number of guilt-edged chances.

SKA could - and really should - have gotten back on level terms in the last knockings of the first period, but a lengthy 5-on-3 powerplay went begging.

That missed opportunity was indeed decisive.

Gennady Chaly doubled Severstal's advantage midway through the frame, displaying impressive skill to dance through our back line and get the better of Pleshkov.

Bossing proceedings with their tenacious play, Severstal should have been at least three to the good before the period was out, but Pleshkov kept SKA in with a shout - especially when neutralising a 3-on-0 counter.

Nonetheless, despite SKA upping their intensity in the ensuing third period, Severstal saw the game out with minimal fuss.

Our team will now prepare to face Lada in Tolyatti on Thursday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 18:00 Moscow time.
