Severstal deliver SKA maiden home setback

6 October 2026

SKA's unwanted habit of conceding five goals once again reared its ugly head, as Severstal claimed an emphatic 5:2 victory in Saint Petersburg.

And, unlike the preceding two games in which SKA -previously undefeated at home this season - registered a ton of their own markers, this time the opponents had their defence on lockdown.

The fired-up visitors quickly raced into a two-goal lead thanks to early efforts from Denis Yan and Ioannis Kaldis.

Danil Aimurzin initially gave SKA hope, though, tapping Rocco Grimaldi's clever pass in a little over 30 seconds after Kaldis' effort.

Unfortunately, that proved to be a false dawn.

Aimurzin did get on the board again in the seventh minute of the second stanza, whipping home while playing 4-on-4 following Ruslan Abrosimov's PP goal at the start of the period.

Severstal then pulled ahead by two again in the 37th minute, with Timofei Davydov - assisted by ex-SKA forward Yegor Graf who picked up two points tonight - getting the better of Artemiy Pleshkov from distance.

Our players huffed and puffed in the ensuing third period, but Severstal held firm - even after Vsevolod Skotnikov had replaced the injured Alexander Samoilov in goal - and duly iced it with Nikita Artamonov's empty-netter.

SKA will now prepare to face Dinamo in Minsk on Thursday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:10 local time.
