SKA - Severstal. Match day

29 January 2016

Following the away match against Dinamo Minsk, SKA have returned home to Saint Petersburg to play HC Severstal Cherepovets.

Today's opponents Severstal have been having a torrid time of it this year, and find themselves languishing in last place of the Western Conference with only 56 points. Naturally all hopes of a post-season have already been wiped out, and the Cherepovets side are left playing only for pride. They have only one win out of their past five matches (3:0 against HC Spartak Moscow), and have been struggling for goals all season. Forward Dmitry Kagarlitsky is their top scorer with 32 points (15+17), while number one goaltender Sergei Magarilov has a saves percentage of 89.5%. Our team have already met with Severstal once this season, taking a solid 3:0 triumph in Cherepovets.

SKA have fallen out of form lately, losing all of the past three matches (Admiral 3:4 SO, CSKA 2:3, Dinamo Minsk 2:3) after beating HC Metallurg Novokuznetsk at home 4:0. Nevertheless Vadim Shipachyov has points from his past seven appearances in a row, and continues to have more points than anyone else with 58 (15+43).

The SKA - Severstal match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. Life78 and KHL TV HD will both broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events by following either our online matchcentre or our official Twitter account.
