SKA - Barys. Match day

The fourth and final game of this home series will take place today against HC Barys Astana of Kazakhstan.

This fixture promises to be competed with maximum effort, especially given recent history between these two teams. Just a few days after losing his job as SKA head coach Andrei Nazarov made the move to Astana, and he will be looking forward to taking on his former club in Saint Petersburg. His arrival in Kazakhstan seems to have had a positive effect on Barys too, as they have won six games on the bounce. One of those victories came against SKA, with our players going down 2:4 (Anton Burdasov and Evgeny Dadonov got SKA's goals). Nevertheless despite that winning streak Barys still find themselves outside the playoffs spots in tenth place of the Western Conference, and are tied on points with both Yugra and Admiral. Ex SKA defenceman Kevin Dallman is their most productive blue liner with 19 points (4+15), while their top overall scorer is Nigel Dawes on 28 (18+10).

Following two wins in a row against HC Dynamo Moscow 3:2 and Vityaz Podolsk 5:3 SKA dropped the previous game to Avangard 1:3, however still do occupy seventh of the Western Conference. Vadim Shipachyov continues to be the team's top scorer with 24 points (5+19), while Nikita Gusev already has seven points from five appearances (3+4).

The SKA - Barys match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. Life78 and KHL TV HD will both broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events either by following our on site match centre, or our official Twitter account.
