Severstal - SKA. Match day

SKA have made the trip to Cherepovets in preparation for today's KHL away match against HC Severstal.

Over the past few years, Severstal have dropped into becoming one of the KHL's true outsiders, rarely making a playoff bid. Unfortunately for them, this season is proving to be another campaign of regret. Despite a pick up in form a few weeks ago, Severstal have recently dropped five defeats in a row, leaving them cut adrift in 13th place of the Western Conference. 12 points off a post-season berth, the Cherepovets outfit have it all to do, and they need to win the vast majority of their remaining matches if they are to have a chance.

Nevertheless, Severstal are always tricky opponents at home. They'll have extra motivation too, as this match is dedicated to their 60th anniversary. Number one goaltender Jakub Kovar holds a 91.3 saves percentage, while Dmitry Kagarlitsky is their top scorer with 26 points (12+14).

Our team made it seventeen wins out of the past eighteen, beating Jokerit 3:2 on penalty shots in Finland. The group has been boosted by the return of Mikko Koskinen and Patrik Hersley, who have both travelled to Cherepovets.

The Severstal - SKA match will begin at 17.00 local time in Cherepovets. Life78 will broadcast live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
