Severstal - SKA. Match day

SKA's first away match of the new KHL regular season will take place today against HC Severstal in Cherepovets.

Our opponents are rather familiar ones today, with SKA having faced Severstal twice during the pre-season. They turned out to be positive experiences too, as in Finland our team won 2:1 on penalty shots before thrashing Severstal 7:3 in the home Nikolai Puchkov tournament. Severstal have improved since then however, and have begun the regular season with a close 2:3 defeat to HC Jokerit Helsinki and a 3:2 win against Dinamo Riga in a shootout. Ex SKA goaltender Jakub Stepanek has been solid so far with a 90.6% saves percentage from their opening two games, and new signings Ondrej Nemec and Igor Skorokhodov should add extra power. Danger men Pavel Buchnevich and Dmitry Kagarlitsky are their most talented players moving forward.

It hasn't been a perfect start to the new campaign for our team at all, and from three games only four points are in the bank. Following a 3:4 defeat to CSKA the players regrouped against HC Dinamo Minsk winning 2:1, however then went down to Torpedo 1:3 at home. Maxim Chudinov has been the team's main star, taking at least a point from every game.

The Severstal - SKA match will begin at 19.30 local time in Cherepovets. 100 TV will broadcast the game live, and you will be able to keep up to date with events by following our official Twitter account.
