Barys - SKA. Before the match

8 October 2021

Today, at 16.30 Moscow time, SKA will begin the latest road trip of the 2021/2022 KHL regular season with a match against Barys Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.

After 14 matches, Barys occupy eighth place of the Eastern Conference with 12 points, with the Kazakhs having only won three times in regulation. Nevertheless, despite their patchy form, Barys are a tough team to compete against, especially in Nur-Sultan. After initially losing three games on the bounce to Metallurg Magnitogorsk (3:4), Dynamo Moscow (1:3) and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (3:4) away from home, Barys got back on track in front of their fans on Wednesday, defeating Avangard Omsk 1:0 with the only goal being scored by Nikita Mikhailis in the 55th minute of play.

SKA are coming off the back of three consecutive victories in Saint Petersburg, with our players having beaten Traktor Chelyabinsk (4:3 SO), Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (2:0) and Lokomotiv (1:0) at the Ice Palace. Our team currently sits in third spot of the Western Conference with 21 points on the board.

Last season, Barys beat SKA 3:2 in a penalty shootout in Kazakhstan, before our organisation subsequently gained revenge with a 4:3 win at home.

KHL TV and Channel 78 will provide a television broadcast in Russia, whereas you can watch a live video on the KHL's official website worldwide. Text updates will be available on our Twitter account.
