SKA make do with one point in return fixture against Amur

7 December 2025

SKA were initially in the driving seat in the second of two away fixtures against Amur in Khabarovsk, but a third-period collapse resulted in an avoidable 3:4 shootout setback.

It really should have been more than one point for SKA on Sunday morning. Up by two and cruising, our players were close to securing a second consecutive win against their Far Eastern hosts, however a series of poor conceded goals ruined those hopes.

Joe Blandisi had opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the second stanza, neatly shooting under Amur goalkeeper Maxim Dorozhko when clean through shorthanded.

Matvei Polyakov then doubled our advantage two minutes later on the powerplay, firmly whipping Nikolai Goldobin’s pass home.

However, Amur turned the game on its head in the third period.

Kirill Slepets lashed the loose puck beyond Sergei Ivanov, before Yaroslav Likhachyov grabbed their equaliser in the next shift. Hungry for more, Khabarovsk even tallied the third in the 54th minute, as ex-SKA forward Kirill Petkov tapped in from close range.

Thankfully for us, Marat Khairullin did at least rescue a point, wristing into the left corner on the powerplay. Nevertheless, Amur went on to steal the ensuing penalty shootout with two unanswered goals to condemn SKA to a disappointing loss.

SKA will now prepare to host the Shanghai Dragons on 16 December. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
