Goal drought continues in Tolyatti
Goal drought continues in Tolyatti

It's now two straight games without a single goal for SKA, who suffered a surprise 0:1 away setback against Lada.
Given that SKA had never previously lost to these opponents in KHL history, it appeared an ideal opportunity for our team to get back on track, but the struggling hosts had other ideas.
Following a somewhat uneventful first period, Nikolai Makarov scored what turned out to be the decisive goal in the 22nd minute with a rocket on the powerplay.
The second stanza was indeed littered with penalties from both teams.
At times Artemiy Pleshkov was single-handedly keeping SKA in the game with a series of tough saves. Valentin Zykov really should then have hauled the visitors level in the closing stages of the frame, thumping the rebound against the pads with the goal seemingly at his mercy.
SKA's urgency predictably increased in the third frame.
However, with Nikolai Chebykin and Vasily Atanasov wasting golden opportunities at point-blank range, Nikita Podskrebalin kept his unexpected shutout intact.
We'll return to action next Tuesday against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Puck-drop in Saint Petersburg is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
