Hard-fought battle with Lokomotiv ends in defeat

31 October 2025

In a close, hard-fought encounter, SKA just came up short against Lokomotiv on the road, conceding a slender 2:3 loss.

Our team initially took the lead in the seventh minute of play, as Danila Galenyuk's deflected attempt from the blue line seared past Yaroslavl goaltender Daniil Isayev.

Furthermore, SKA really should have doubled their advantage moments later, but Sergei Plotnikov could only hit the crossbar on the powerplay with Isayev beaten.

Lokomotiv hit back with two quickfire markers. Pavel Kraskovsky expertly tipped beyond Sergei Ivanov, before Georgy Ivanov tipped Martin Gernat's pass home.

The away team hit back before the end of the stanza with Marat Khairullin turning Igor Larionov's intelligent pass in. However, our players were subsequently made to pay for a really slow start to the second stanza, as Daniil Misyul had far too much time and space to pick his spot.

A golden opportunity to equalise on a 5-on-3 powerplay was then wasted.

SKA did have a handful of promising chances in the ensuing third period, but Lokomotiv professionally saw the game out to claim the two points.

Our next game will take place on Tuesday against Dynamo Moscow in Saint Petersburg. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 local time.
