CSKA - SKA. Press-conference

HC SKA head coach Andrei Nazarov:

- It was a hard game, our fourth away from home. Our guys did a good job today, got it together. Everyone played committed, laid their bodies in front of the puck, wanted to win and held on in the final minutes.

- I'm not going to ask which words came into your head, but how did you feel when Evgeny Ketov and Pyotr Khokhryakov hit the woodwork when the net was empty?

- I got worried, as it often happens that when a team misses the open net they end up getting punished. However one of our players bravely blocked the puck when CSKA attacked. We had a great desire to win. We had very few shots on goal in the third period, although I haven't looked at the statistics yet. Overall we spent a lot of time defending. I managed to get through to the players that when we lead, we don't need to go chasing third and fourth goals. Especially in such games when we don't have a lot of energy left.

- Can you comment on the news surronding Vyacheslav Voynov? Would he strengthen your team?

- No comment.

HC CSKA Moscow head coach Dmitry Kvartalnov:

- I congratulate SKA with their deserved win. We didn't have such a tough schedule like SKA did. Our one was better, more interesting. We should have been ready today, but we have again lost to a good team. It's not nice at all, but what can we do? We are simply not that good. Maybe some of our players are waiting for games against lesser clubs. My opinion is that we need to test ourselves against strong opponents. We can see and understand everything. We will work and try to beat such teams. Unfortunately, we aren't capable of this yet.

- Why didn't Stephane Da Costa play?

- He's injured.

- When will he return?

- Not yet.

- CSKA were on the powerplay for a long period of time, but couldn't score. Why?

- Andrei was just talking about the statistics where we outshot them 16 or 13 to 0, and how SKA gave their all. You know what, I didn't even smell a goal. Alexander Radulov took his chance. but overall everything is very bad. We played just as we didn't want to, although at training we have been trying to make it work.

- Are there any problems with the atmosphere within the team?

- No, our atmosphere is great.

- Do CSKA lack a killer's instinct?

- We wanted to play better. As a sportsman I always looked forward to such matches, to take part in them. I have a lot of questions for my players.

- What do you think about Denis Denisov's fight?

- Denis Denisov's fight arose because of emotions, he's our captain. I liked how the referees performed today, they gave the teams a chance to play.

- The main topic of the day has been Vyacheslav Voynov's return to Russia. He was at this match, and rumors have it that he will sign either for CSKA or SKA. Do you need such a player for strengthening up your defence?

- He will not play in our team.
