Sochi - SKA - 5:6 OT

23 February 2023

In an overtime thriller, SKA completed a dramatic three-goal comeback against Sochi on the road in the concluding match of the 2022/2023 KHL regular season, earning a nervy 6:5 victory.

Two markers from familiar face Kirill Petkov during the first period were sandwiched by Nikita Gusev. In the second, Evgeny Ketov grabbed our second equaliser, but Artur Tyanulin once again gave the fired-up hosts the advantage in the 33rd minute.

To everyone's surprise, Sochi suddenly pulled away at the start of the third stanza.

Another from Tyanulin and Timur Khafizov's effort on the powerplay allowed Sochi to take a large three-goal advantage. SKA were in serious trouble, but our players weren't prepared to go down without a fight.

Dmitrij Jaskin registered two goals to haul us back to within one. With a little over a minute remaining, Alexander Volkov then forced overtime in dramatic fashion, as he hit the jackpot when unmarked on the doorstep.

Gusev subsequently ended the game in our favour with a superb goal on the powerplay.

SKA will return to action on March 1 in the first match of the opening round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs. Our team will take on either Dinamo Minsk or Spartak Moscow.
