SKA outlast Severstal in 10-goal thriller!

26 November 2025

In a highly eventful battle full of thrills and spills, SKA just managed to edge Severstal on the road, earning a pulsating 6:4 triumph!

Overtime looked to be looming in Cherepovets, but Brendan Leipsic grabbed his second in the 59th minute when connecting with a delightful feed from Rocco Grimaldi before Valentin Zykov iced it with a last-gasp powerplay marker.

Severstal had initially got the party started in the maiden minute of play.

Unmarked on the left flank, Vladimir Grudinin lashed a firm wrister beyond Artemiy Pleshkov.

Nevertheless, SKA managed to take the lead in the first period, with Matvei Polyakov gobbling up the rebound and Valentin Zykov catching Konstantin Shostak cold from distance.

Alexander Skorenov immediately drew Severstal level in the second stanza on the powerplay. SKA responded well, though, tallying a PP marker of their own through Leipsic's solo effort and increasing the advantage to two with Joseph Blandisi tapping Grimaldi's intelligent pass over the line.

Our players were firmly in the box seat. However, Cherepovets suddenly drew level with two quickfire markers in the dying moments of the period, as former SKA forward Ilya Ivantsov beat Pleshkov with a slick move and Ioannis Kaldis' wrister from the left circle flew beyond our unsighted goalkeeper.

SKA would have the last laugh, though, snatching the two points with time running out.

SKA will now prepare to face Ak Bars in Kazan on Friday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
