Five-star SKA sweep the Dragons aside!

14 January 2026

SKA powered to a vital away triumph at the Shanghai Dragons on Wednesday evening, claiming a confident 5:2 victory!

In what was predictably a hotly-contested, even contest at the SKA Arena, our players responded well to going behind in the second stanza and subsequently ran out comfortable winners.

Marat Khairullin had initially opened the scoring in the 17th second of play, whipping home a firm wrister.

Nevertheless, Shanghai conjured up a quick equaliser just four minutes later, as Kirill Rasskazov completed a flowing counter-attack.

Shanghai then repeated the trick midway through the second stanza, with Nick Merkley skating clean through on the counter and neatly getting the better of Artemiy Pleshkov.

SKA weren't to be denied, though.

Yegor Savikov immediately drew SKA level with a strong wrist shot through traffic, before the impressive Nikolai Goldobin tapped home at the second attempt after cutting through the Shanghai defence.

In full control of proceedings, our team managed the game effectively in the ensuing third frame, killing it as a contest with two clever late powerplay markers from Sergei Plotnikov and Brendan Leipsic.

SKA will now prepare to host Sochi in Saint Petersburg on Friday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
