SKA - Severstal - 4:1

11 February 2019

In Saint Petersburg, SKA got back to winning ways in the 2018/2019 KHL regular season, defeating HC Severstal Cherepovets 4:1 at the Ice Palace.

Severstal initially took the lead in the first period, however four unanswered goals then killed the away challenge as SKA roared to a confident victory after the Euro Hockey Tour break.

Inside three minutes, Dmitry Megalinskiy cut sharply to the SKA slot, displaying some nice moves as he went five hole on Igor Shestyorkin. However, our players got back on level terms within a minute, as Andrei Zubarev completed a flowing play.

Captain Pavel Datsyuk then gave SKA their first advantage of the day, receiving a clever pass and backhanding beyond the stranded Dominik Furch. Before the period was out, SKA made it 3:1, with Jarno Koskiranta receiving a superb pass from Nikita Gusev and hitting the target.

Alexander Barabanov scored SKA's fourth midway through the second period to increase the lead to 4:1. In the third frame, Severstal swapped Dominik Furch for Sergei Korobov, but despite the latter not conceding, SKA saw the game out comfortably to win 4:1!
