First friendly game ends in confident victory

SKA earned a routine win in the first match of pre-season, defeating VHL side Dynamo Saint Petersburg 5:2 at Hockey City.

Our players quickly opened the scoring midway through the first stanza, with Valentin Zykov scoring our maiden marker of the summer.

Sergei Plotnikov then doubled the advantage towards the end of the second period, before Dynamo cut our lead in half by beating Artemiy Pleshkov with a mere 48 seconds remaining on the clock.

Dynamo then reacted to Sergei Sapego’s effort in the early stages of the third frame. Nevertheless, SKA weren’t to be denied, as Nikita Zaitsev netted with a heavy slap shot and Trevor Murphy tallied a last-gasp empty-netter.

A subsequent training penalty shootout ended 1:1 after the main match had ended.
