SKA - Dynamo Moscow - 5:3

28 November 2023

In a highly entertaining match, SKA outlasted Dynamo Moscow at the Ice Palace in the 2023/2024 KHL regular season, earning a dramatic 5:3 triumph.

SKA quickly opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Mikhail Vorobyov on the slot. At the start of the second stanza, Vladimir Alistrov then doubled our advantage, knocking the puck past away goaltender Ilya Konovalov from the doorstep.

Not long later, Dmitry Rashevsky did get Dynamo on the board with a rising wrister, but Alex Galchenyuk conjured up a superb solo effort on the powerplay to reinstate our two-goal cushion.

The game well and truly exploded into life in the third period.

While competing on two PPs, Dynamo got back on level terms within four minutes, as Jordan Weal pounced on the rebound at close range and former SKA defenseman Igor Ozhiganov beat Nikita Serebryakov with a low slap shot.

The outcome was eventually decided by a five-minute penalty taken by Anton Malyshev against Alexander Nikishin.

During that ensuing powerplay, Marat Khairullin grabbed what turned out to be the winning goal, firing a wonderful effort over Konovalov's glove when stood on the right faceoff circle.

The same player subsequently sealed the deal in the 53rd minute, catching Konovalov cold with what seemed a routine backhander.

SKA will now prepare to host Vityaz Moscow Region in Saint Petersburg on Friday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
