SKA fall to narrow loss in Ufa

2 November 2024

SKA were left to rue missed chances in Ufa, conceding an avoidable 2:4 defeat to Salavat Yulaev on the road in the 2024/2025 KHL regular season.

Mikhail Vorobyov could - and should - have sent the game to overtime, but he whacked wide of the gaping right corner with the goal at his mercy - a miss promptly punished by Sheldon Rempal’s empty-netter.

Salavat initially started the stronger, opening the scoring in the 10th minute through Yegor Suchkov on the powerplay.

Our players got back on level terms in the early stages of the second stanza through Zakhar Bardakov’s neat move. However, Ufa scored two unanswered goals before the period was out, with Josh Leivo and Artyom Pimenov netting at close range.

Mikhail Grigorenko halved the deficit for SKA late in the third frame with a rocket while playing 6-on-4. Unfortunately, though, Salavat held on with Vorobyov wasting our final opportunity.

SKA will now prepare to play Kunlun Red Star away in Mytishchi on Monday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 local time.
