Roman Rotenberg speaks after the second win against Spartak in Moscow

HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:
- It was a good playoff game, our guys worked as hard as possible and followed our plan. We have to give credit to the opponents too, Spartak were compact and forced us to make tactical changes. Our leading players were excellent today. Of course, I would also like to thank our supporters.
- In overtime, SKA seemed to crash the net a lot harder than in the third period.
- We always try to compete on the front foot. In the third period, we committed a mistake which resulted in a conceded goal. However, ice hockey is a game of mistakes, and during the playoffs we must work on reducing our errors while making improvements and playing in a simpler manner. The opposing goalkeeper is playing really well, just like their entire team. We need to make more surprise decisions. Our goal in overtime is an example of that, our players are showing their individual quality. This gave us the result today.
- Why couldn't you secure the victory in regulation time? SKA wasted a lot of opportunities before playing rather passively in the third frame.
- Our task was to play actively, not passively. We couldn't take advantage of our chances.
We like our players to improvise in the attacking zone. For Nikita Gusev's goal, we can see the systematic work of his line, our players took the puck around the Spartak zone and finished the play with a one-timer. Sometimes, however, we made too many passes, we want to unleash more shots on goal. Spartak's goalkeeper is playing well, and they are very compact against our leading players. This is an opportunity for us to make improvements and overcome these difficulties. We continue working.
- What can you say about Leo Komarov in the third period?
- There was a violation of the faceoff rules. These things can happen, especially when the game is full of emotions.
