Roman Rotenberg speaks after beating Amur away

HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:
- First of all, I would like to note the wonderful atmosphere here, the stands were full. Thank you to our fans who travelled here to support us! I liked how we played in certain periods of the game, especially when competing shorthanded. We managed to move out from under pressure and played well at neutral ice. The guys followed the game plan, but we have things which require improvement. Amur provided us with a lot of challenges, however we successfully coped with them.
- SKA have now scored eight goals across two games, winning both of those matches. Is your difficult period behind you?
- I remember that when I spoke with a Soviet Olympic champion about the national team's loss to the US at the 1980 competition, he told me that we only remember victories, not defeats. This is our psychology. In sport and in life in general, you have to focus on today and see how you can improve. It was a high-quality performance today with a positive result.
- Artemiy Pleshkov is in fantastic form. Have you now got a new first-choice goalkeeper?
- I'm really happy that Artemiy is playing so well. He produced a phenomenal performance, but the entire team helped him. Unfortunately, Johan Mattsson will be on the sidelines for a long time as a consequence of his injury. In such a situation, other guys need to take the leading roles. As I have already previously said, I used to travel to Stupino to watch Artemiy play for Kapitan in the MHL. He's a unique goalkeeper who plays with courage and emotion, his desire rubs off on everyone else in the team. His eyes are burning with desire! In terms of the next match, then we will have a discussion with the goalkeeping coaches and analyse the technical aspects.
