FORM
Once again, Amur are struggling at the wrong end of the KHL regular season standings, having lost eight of their 11 opening matches in regulation time. Nevertheless, despite their underwhelming results, the Khabarovsk-based outfit can't be underestimated. Last week, Amur tallied a tense 3:2 overtime triumph over Torpedo in Nizhny Novgorod, a victory which became their second of the season after they initially defeated Dinamo Riga 2:1 at home. Amur do find themselves languishing in the penultimate berth of the Eastern Conference as they search for positive momentum.
It's worth noting that former SKA forward Nail Yakupov is on Amur's books. The 26-year-old has tallied three (1+2) points for Amur so far.
On the other hand, this young SKA team has been impressive in recent games, taking Ak Bars Kazan all the way to a penalty shootout in Saint Petersburg before slaying Sibir Novosibirsk 6:4 away from home in a 10-goal thriller. As a result of those three important points, our team currently occupy second place of the Western Conference, only trailing CSKA Moscow by a single point.
