Metallurg Magnitogorsk - SKA - 2:3 SO

In a tense battle, SKA emerged victorious over Metallurg Magnitogorsk away in the 2023/2024 KHL regular season, tallying a nervy 3:2 triumph after a penalty shootout.

Sergei Tolchinsky initially handed us the lead on the powerplay in the second minute of proceedings.

However, Magnitogorsk were rewarded for a quick start to the second, equalising through Danila Yurov.

SKA subsequently went on to earn their second advantage while competing shorthanded. Unfortunately, though, we contrived to concede during the same PK, with former SKA forward Maxim Karpov beating Nikita Serebryakov from distance.

After a scoreless third stanza and a cautious overtime frame, a shootout was indeed required.

To our delight, Alex Galchenyuk and Valentin Zykov hit the jackpot against home goaltender Artyom Zagidullin, while Serebryakov was only scored on by Nikita Mikhailis.

SKA will now prepare to face Avtomobilist in Ekaterinburg on Tuesday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 Moscow time.
