Dinamo Minsk - SKA - 4:3 OT

5 January 2021

In Belarus, SKA could only tally the one point against HC Dinamo Minsk, conceding a narrow 3:4 overtime defeat on the road in the 2020/2021 KHL regular season.

Linden Vey initially opened the scoring in the first period as his pass across the crease was inadvertently taken into his own net by Dinamo Minsk goalkeeper Alexei Kolosov. Nevertheless, the Belarusians quickly notched an equaliser, with Zack Mitchell tapping the puck in at point-blank range following a defensive mix-up.

SKA, however, continued competing on the front foot in the second stanza and took the lead in the 28th minute as Anton Burdasov whipped a wrister into the right corner.

The third period turned out to be very dramatic indeed.

In the 46th minute, Pavel Varfolomeev tallied a second equalising goal for Dinamo Minsk, but Burdasov replied for SKA within 60 seconds as he connected with Andrei Kuzmenko's superb pass. However, in the closing stages, Shane Prince managed to force overtime on the powerplay as his effort from a tight angle wasn't dealt with by Magnus Hellberg.

Prince subsequently netted the overtime winner for the Belarusian club on another powerplay.

SKA will now prepare to face Lokomotiv in Yaroslavl on Thursday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 local time.
