Barys - SKA - 4:6

In a 10-goal thriller, SKA just held on against Barys Astana away in the 2022/2023 KHL regular season, claiming a nervy 6:4 triumph in Kazakhstan.

SKA initially opened up a confident three-goal lead in the first period thanks to excellent goals from Igor Ozhiganov, Svyatoslav Grebenshchikov and Evgeny Ketov.

Familiar face Alex Grant got Barys on the board on the powerplay at the start of the second stanza. However, not long later, Stepan Falkovsky reinstated our comfortable advantage when connecting with the rebound on the slot.

Our players appeared to be in full control. Nonetheless, fighting to keep their rapidly fading playoff hopes alive, Barys rallied hard in the third frame.

Initially, Damir Zhafyarov responded to Barys' second from Nikita Mikhailis. That didn't take the sting out of the hosts, though, as they subsequently got back to within one thanks to markers registered by Jeremy Bracco and Kirill Savitsky.

Thankfully, despite Barys throwing everything at our team, Vasily Glotov sealed a tense win with a late empty-netter.

SKA will now prepare to host Sibir Novosibirsk in Saint Petersburg on Thursday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
