Avangard - SKA. Match day

SKA will finish off this away series with a match in Omsk against HC Avangard.

Being one of the KHL's leading clubs, Avangard will not be easy opponents for SKA at all. Indeed the Omsk outfit have begun in promising fashion this season, occupying second place of the Eastern Conference with 42 points. Just like SKA, they have a superb squad at their disposal, boasting Russian and world stars. Czech forward Vladimir Sobotka is their most notable figure while ex St. Louis Blues teammate Derek Roy joined him at the club during the summer. Russian Olympians Evgeny Medvedev and Nikita Nikitin have added to their defensive strength.

Former popular SKA players such as Andrei Kuteikin and Anton Burdasov can also be found in Omsk. So far, their top goalscorer is Alexander Perezhogin with 13 points (9+4), and goaltender Dominik Furch holds a solid saves percentage of 93.2. In their previous couple of games, Avangard lost to CSKA 2:3 and beat Severstal 5:2 in Omsk.

Our team have now won eight games on the spin, most recently thrashing Metallurg Novokuznetsk 6:0 in Siberia. Mikko Koskinen tallied up his first shutout of the campaign in that match, and Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 100th SKA goal in the KHL. On 59 points, SKA continue to lead the way in the standings.

The Avangard - SKA match will begin at 14.00 at the Arena Omsk, Omsk. Life78 and KHL TV will both broadcast the game live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
