Igor Larionov speaks after beating Avangard away from home

HC SKA head coach Igor Larionov:

"It was a really good match with plenty of opportunities. Of course, I am really happy with our enthusiasm, bravery and our goalkeeper's fantastic performance. Congratulations to our players and everyone who supported us today with this victory! I would also like to note the wonderful atmosphere here, Omsk is a city which loves ice hockey. It's great to beat such a strong team on the road."

Yuri Babenko's responsibilities as coach...

"He's been with us for two weeks now. Yuri is responsible for our play shorthanded and defensive system. I've known Yuri for a very long time, ever since I signed him in the KHL after he had been playing in North America. We're happy to have him in our group."

Solid defensive play from SKA...

"At this moment in time, we're coping with a lot of injuries and illness. When you're in a situation like this, you have to find ways of emerging from it successfully. It's always challenging playing every two days away from home. When you're mentally tired, you end up committing mistakes which result in conceded goals. In order to avoid this happening, you have to compete in a different way in comparison to our regular style. Maybe it's not pretty for the fans to watch, but we needed to take this step and earn a big win. I asked our guys to be patient, and they managed to withstand the pressure from Omsk."

Sergei Ivanov's 43-save shutout...

"It would have been difficult for Yegor Zavragin to compete in three consecutive challenging games, so we came to the conclusion that this was Sergei's game. During any season, there are always a certain number of matches which the goalkeepers win for their respective teams. He really was brilliant in this game, he achieved the win for us! All three of our goalkeepers are solid."

When Brendan Leipsic will be introduced...

"It's hard to say, because he hasn't played for six or seven months. Nevertheless, he is currently with us here. Taking into account the amount of time which he's missed, it's obvious that it's not possible to immediately get back up to speed."
