Avangard - SKA. Match day

SKA will continue their road trip with a match against HC Avangard in Omsk, a Siberian city.

Generally regarded as one of the KHL's heavyweights, Avangard have bounced back from a couple of disappointing seasons to lead the Eastern Conference with 45 points from 26 games. Their team had a strong Czech feel running through it, with goaltender Dominik Furch, defenceman Michal Kempny and forwards Vladimir Sobotka and Martin Erat all among their ranks. Indeed Vladimir Sobotka is their main star name, and having rejected the opportunity to rejoin the NHL he has 18 points so far this campaign (10+8). Russian veterans Alexander Perezhogin, Denis Parshin and Alexander Popov are still creating havoc in Avangard's attack, and newly signed Swedish defenceman Jonas Ahnelov has been solid. Avangard haven't conceded in their previous two games either, defeating Medvescak 1:0 and HC Slovan Bratislava 3:0.

Our team are coming off the back of a confidence boosting 4:2 win over HC Yugra, and another win today will again take SKA back ahead of HC Sochi into eighth of the Western Conference.

Out of 14 KHL matches against each other, SKA have come out on top on nine occasions compared to Avangard's five wins.

The Avangard - SKA match will begin at 16.00 Moscow time inside the Arena Omsk, Omsk. Life78, Rossiya 2 and KHL TV HD will all broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events by following our official Twitter account.
