SKA edge 12-goal thriller against Amur!

30 November 2024

In a 12-goal thriller, SKA edged past Amur Khabarovsk away in the 2024/2025 KHL regular season, earning an important 7:5 triumph.

Marat Khairullin was certainly the hero of the day, recording five (3+2) points while familiar face Alex Galchenyuk grabbed a hat-trick for Amur.

The two sides traded goals in the opening stanza, with Arseniy Koromyslov's effort immediately being cancelled out by Ignat Korotkikh on the counter.

The game really did burst into life in the second stanza. Galchenyuk initially converted a penalty shot shorthanded, but SKA conjured up an instant reponse on the extended powerplay with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Khairullin netting clever goals. Not long later, Galchenyuk completed a flowing play for Khabarovsk, however Khairullin quickly reinstated our lead on the break-away.

Quick goals from Nikita Smirnov and Sergei Plotnikov - the latter tallying on the PP - looked to have ended the match as a contest. Nevertheless, Amur had other ideas, cutting the deficit to one with Oleg Li and Galchenyuk getting the better of Stanislav Berezhnoi who had replaced Pavel Moisevich in our net following the sixth SKA goal.

SKA did hold on, though, well and truly sealing the deal in the dying seconds with Khairullin hitting the empty net.

Our next game is scheduled for Thursday against Dynamo Moscow in Saint Petersburg. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
