Alexei Ponikarovsky: "We had a chance to win both games in Moscow"

Alexei Ponikarovsky: "We had a chance to win both games in Moscow"

10 March 2016

- Why was it such a tense game?

- It was an even match, both teams played hard. In overtime we were better, we held the puck in Dynamo's zone for long periods. We created a lot of chances, hit both the post and the bar, and in this aspect Dynamo got a bit more lucky than we did.

- How would you rate your performance with Ilya Kovalchuk and Jarno Koskiranta?

- We had a decent amount of goalscoring chances, we worked well and had mutual understanding.

- You didn't begin the match well at all.

- The opponents scored two goals. The first came on an odd man rush. The main thing is that we didn't lose heart. We knew that we had a lot of time to get back into the match, and we got it together and began showing our hockey. We equalised and gave ourselves a chance.

- What would you say about Ilya Kovalchuk's penalty?

- I didn't see exactly what happened, I can't say anything about that.

- In the dressing room, did Ilya mention that episode?

- No. What happens in the dressing room, remains in the dressing room. We are a team, we win and lose together.

- Is 1:1 from Moscow a good result?

- We wanted more, and we had a chance to win this game. The series starts at 0:0, and we will now play two games in Saint Petersburg at home.
