Igor Larionov speaks after playing Dynamo away

11 October 2026

HC SKA head coach Igor Larionov:

"Given that Dynamo had lost six on the bounce, we expected them to compete with full commitment. I liked how we played after we had made changes for the third period; we competed in the correct manner with short shifts, discipline and quick decisions.

"Winning becomes a habit in sport, as does losing. Any moment of relaxation in our business results in you paying the price. Going forward we want to be a solid, confident team which scores lots of goals and wins matches."

PP struggles...

"Success is never gained in the comfortable areas. Instead you have to play on the crease, prepare to take knocks, compete physically and take control of the rebounds. The result would have been different had we scored at least two of our powerplay attempts."

Conceding twice shorthanded...

"I don't think that we need to change our concept. The first Dynamo PP goal was scored via a screen, whereas they won the battle on the slot for the second. We needed to play wiser in those situations in order to clear the puck. Nonetheless, we also have to give credit to Dynamo; they have lots of quality."

Early challenge against Nikolai Goldobin...

"I can't understand how four sets of eyes can miss a foul like this one. They came and told us that yes, they missed that foul, but what does that mean to us? We then subsequently took a penalty in the next shift which was nothing like the challenge on Goldobin."

22 turnovers...

"It's obvious that we want to stop losing the puck so often. However, you can't achieve anything without taking risks. It all depends on the type of risks which are being taken."
