SKA survive Admiral scare!

3 October 2026

6:5 again, this time in SKA's favour as our team edged past a plucky Admiral Vladivostok side after a penalty shootout.

The visitors pushed SKA all the way, but our players' extra bit of quality eventually told just days after losing to CSKA by the same score - albeit in regulation time - in Moscow.

Familiar face Vladislav Tsitsyura initially opened the scoring just 23 seconds in. Vasily Glotov quickly replied when sending a rebound past Nikita Boyarkin, but Anthony Camara soon put Admiral in the driving seat again.

The somewhat frantic manner of proceedings continued in the second stanza.

While Dmitry Zavgorodny netted a third for the Vladivostok-based organisation against the run of play, Sergei Plotnikov and Nikolai Goldobin - twice - both scored superb markers to hand SKA their maiden lead of the day.

Our first line consisting of Goldobin, Glotov and Plotnikov did indeed end the evening with an astounding combined total of 11 (!) points!

A continued array of defensive errors from the two teams resulted in more chaotic goalmouth action in the third.

Following Ivan Yanchenko's opportunistic effort for Admiral, Plotnikov grabbed his second on the man advantage - and SKA's third overall - to reinstate our lead.

However, with the clock ticking down, Camara forced OT with a searing long-range attempt which flew past the unsighted Artemiy Pleshkov.

Buoyed by that goal, Admiral subsequently competed with the initiative during the remainder of the period and then overtime, but SKA held on and got the job done in the ensuing shootout thanks to successful attempts from Danil Aimurzin and Matvei Korotky.

SKA will now prepare to host Severstal Cherepovets on Tuesday. Puck-drop in Saint Petersburg is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
