Back in action with eventful away win!

25 September 2026

Following a lengthy 10-day break SKA made a winning return to the KHL, edging to an entertaining 4:3 triumph at Traktor.

After taking a commanding three-goal lead at the start of the third period, our players did allow the Chelyabinsk-based opponents to claw back to within one, but the impressive Sergei Ivanov refused to be beaten for a fourth time.

Matvei Korotky opened the scoring in the third minute with a low backhander, before familiar face Ivan Vydrenkov equalised for Traktor on the counter during a powerplay not long later.

Vasily Glotov thought that he had reinstated SKA's lead in an all-action first period when breaking through. However, his marker was disallowed for offside following a Traktor coach's challenge.

Our team went on to take a firm grip of proceedings in the second stanza.

Danil Aimurzin handed us our second advantage of the day with 34 minutes on the clock, thumping the rebound home with feeling.

Scott Wilson then ensured we went into the break with a solid two-goal buffer when sending an instant attempt over former SKA goalkeeper Dmitry Nikolayev on the PP.

The third period got off to the perfect start from our point of view, as Daniil Miromanov's wrister was too hot for Nikolayev to handle.

And, despite two ensuing close-range efforts from Andrei Svetlakov and Boris Katchouk, SKA successfully saw the match out in a professional manner.

Our next match is scheduled to take place on Sunday against Barys in Astana. Puck-drop is planned for 15:00 Moscow time.
