Repeat triumph over Avtomobilist at SKA Arena!

SKA made it two friendly wins from two against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, hanging on for an entertaining 5:4 victory at home.

The visitors threatened to complete a dramatic comeback in the closing seconds having initially trailed by three, but our players kept them at bay to record a second consecutive hard-fought summer win.

After Matvei Korotky had opened the scoring in the closing stages of the first period, Avtomobilist battled back in the second with markers from Nikita Shashkov and Roman Gorbunov.

Nonetheless, SKA successfully regrouped in the ensuing third stanza, netting three unanswered goals in the maiden seven minutes of the frame with Valentin Zykov, Nikita Nedopyokin and Linus Weissbach all beating away goalkeeper Evgeny Alikin.

Scott Wilson looked to have well and truly iced it with an empty-netter after Avtomobilist had pulled Alikin in favour of the extra skater early.

However, the Yekaterinburg-based outfit had other ideas.

Kale Clague gave the opponents a glimmer of hope when getting the better of Sergei Ivanov, before Daniel Sprong hit the jackpot on the powerplay to ensure that the concluding 38 seconds would be full of tension.

SKA withstood the pressure, though, ensuing that they recorded another confidence-boosting victory.

Our team will next be in action at the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on 27 August in Saint Petersburg.
