Point streak ends at the hands of Dynamo

SKA’s nine-game point streak ended on Thursday evening thanks to a heavy 1:4 defeat to Dynamo Moscow in Saint Petersburg.
On the back foot for the majority of proceedings, our players never really gained a foothold against a strong Dynamo outfit, which sealed the deal with three markers in quick succession during a disastrous second stanza.
The highlight of the night was Nikita Dishkovsky’s second shorthanded marker in as many games, as he got the better of familiar face Vladislav Podyapolsky after the visitors had initially opened the scoring through Ansel Galimov at close range.
More penalty trouble in the second period unfortunately proved to be SKA’s downfall.
The game-winner was indeed tallied in the 29th minute by Jordan Weal on the powerplay, with the Dynamo forward presented with far too much time and space between the circles to connect with Nikita Gusev’s sharp pass.
Kirill Adamchuk then doubled Dynamo’s advantage with a clever individual effort a mere 36 seconds later, before a rocket from ex-SKA defenseman Artyom Sergeyev in the 34th minute ended the match as a contest.
SKA huffed and puffed in the ensuing third frame, but to no avail as the away side saw the game out with minimal fuss.
Our team will now prepare to host Lokomotiv Yaroslavl at the Ice Palace on Saturday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 local time.
