Five-star SKA cruise in Kazakhstan!

12 February 2026

SKA finished the latest road trip of 2026 in perfect fashion, calmly defeating Barys Astana by an emphatic score of 5:0 in the Kazakh capital.

A hard-fought first half of the game had initially ended level. However, after Matvei Korotky had broken the deadlock with a silky penalty shot, SKA firmly took charge and put struggling Barys to the sword.

Korotky was presented with the opportunity to draw first blood in the 33rd minute when Barys forward Alikhan Omirbekov was penalised for pushing a loose stick towards Yegor Savikov.

And the gifted 20-year-old took advantage of that chance with aplomb, displaying a dazzling set of skills to expertly lash past sprawling Barys goalkeeper Adam Scheel.

That goal really did open the floodgates.

Sergei Plotnikov doubled our lead on the powerplay less than 30 seconds later, carefully tipping Nikolai Goldobin’s effort into the net.

Interestingly, Barys did test Artemiy Pleshkov on 15 occasions during the second frame in comparison to SKA’s 10 shots on target, but their pair of quickfire goals did allow our players to control proceedings with relative calmness.

An important third marker in the fifth minute of the concluding frame really did put SKA in the box seat.

Beating his marker for sheer speed, Nikita Dishkovsky smashed the rebound in after Marat Khairullin’s wrister had been pushed out to the doorstep.

SKA weren’t finished there either.

Goldobin made it four with a simply sumptuous between-the-legs attempt, before Khairullin ruthlessly wristed beyond Scheel to cap off a satisfying evening.

Furthermore, as a consequence of stopping all 36 Barys shots which he faced, Pleshkov deservedly registered his first shutout of the campaign.

SKA will now prepare to host Salavat Yulaev Ufa in Saint Petersburg on Monday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
