Momentum gained with late Cherepovets show!
Momentum gained with late Cherepovets show!

Two wins on the bounce for a rapidly-improving SKA, as a pair of goals in the closing stages fired our team to a vital 3:1 triumph at Severstal!
Overtime looked to be on the horizon in a tense contest in Cherepovets. However, Matvei Polyakov and Valentin Zykov had other ideas, with the pair plunging late daggers into Severstal hearts to ensure SKA made it three consecutive matches with points on the board.
Sergei Sapego had initially broken the deadlock midway through the first period, smashing a clattering one-timer past Konstantin Shostak.
The second stanza proved to be a challenge with Severstal applying strong pressure.
Their pressing eventually resulted in an equaliser with a mere 42 seconds remaining on the clock, as Danil Aimurzin completed a flowing counter-attack while competing on a powerplay.
Both teams had their fair share of opportunities in the ensuing third frame. To our delight, it was SKA who struck the killer blow, with Polyakov smashing the rebound in on the PP and Zykov whipping a firm wrister over Shostak’s glove.
SKA will return to action next Tuesday after the KHL All-Star break against Neftekhimik in Nizhnekamsk. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
