Fruitless trip to Spartak

It’s six defeats on the bounce for SKA, as our team conceded a heavy 0:4 loss to rivals Spartak on the road in Moscow.

SKA did manage to create enough chances while playing 5-on-5, but a large haul of penalties ruined any hopes of earning much-needed points.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as Daniil Gutik sent a low one-timer beyond Sergei Ivanov while competing on a 5-on-3.

Ill-discipline well and truly put the game to bed in the second stanza.

Pavel Poryadin completed a flowing counter-attack during another powerplay, before the impressive Gutik pounced on another two-man advantage with a carbon-copy of his first marker.

In what was a flat, underwhelming third frame, Nikita Korostelyov beat Ivanov with a slick individual move to complete the job for Spartak.

SKA will now prepare to face CSKA in the capital on Sunday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 17:00 local time.
