CSKA - SKA. Match facts

28 December 2023

SKA achieved their 150th shutout in the KHL. 129 of them have been tallied in the regular season, with the remaining 21 having arrived in the Gagarin Cup playoffs. It's worth pointing out that only CSKA Moscow boast more KHL shutouts (168) than SKA.

This also marked the maiden occasion when SKA earned a shutout against CSKA in the league since the 31st of March 2018! On that particular day five years ago, our team had defeated CSKA 2:0 in Saint Petersburg in the playoffs.

Nikita Serebryakov became the 20th goalkeeper to record a minimum of one shutout for SKA in the KHL. It took him 24 games to achieve this, longer than anyone else.

Furthermore, a 43-save shutout is indeed a new SKA record in the KHL regular season! The previous record was held by Robert Esche, who stopped all 42 shots he faced when playing against Dynamo Moscow (1:0) on the 26th of January 2010.

Serebryakov is the first SKA goaltender in the KHL to tally a shutout against CSKA on the road! Previously, all five of our clean sheets against the Moscow-based organisation had been witnessed on home ice in Saint Petersburg. However, if we also take into account the Russian championship as a whole, then SKA's last shutout in Moscow against CSKA had been registered by Sergei Nikolaev on the 27th of February 2001!

The 28-year-old also became the first SKA goalkeeper to gain four victories against CSKA in one regular season since Esche in the 2009/2010 campaign. All of the four wins, both this season and in the 2009/2010 edition, were earned in regulation time.

Thanks to his assist for our winning marker, forward Mikhail Vorobyov has now picked up 100 (36+64) points for SKA in competitive matches. Mikhail, who is the 25th player (5 defensemen, 120 forwards) to gain a minimum of 100 points for SKA in the KHL, required 168 games to achieve this landmark.
