CSKA - SKA. Match day

9 January 2017

It's the one everyone's been waiting for! SKA have travelled to Moscow for a top of the table clash against CSKA.

Playing out two classic playoffs battles in the past couple of seasons, the rivalry between these clubs has risen even further. CSKA have become one of SKA's most difficult KHL opponents, with SKA losing four consecutive matches to CSKA in Moscow. Nevertheless, having beaten CSKA twice in Saint Petersburg this season., SKA will be confident of changing that tradition.

Despite losing leading lights Alexander Radulov and Nikita Zaitsev during the summer, CSKA have retained their status as KHL leaders. A run of four victories in five matches has taken them to the top of the table on 107 points, sharing first place with SKA. Kirill Petrov is their top scorer with 29 points (18+11), while young goalkeeper Ilya Sorokin boasts a 93.0 saves percentage.

After dropping four defeats on the spin, SKA finally got back to winning ways in Latvia, thrashing Dinamo Riga 6:1. Fourth liners Evgeny Ketov and Viktor Tikhonov particuarly impressed in that one, racking up a combined total of five points. Igor Shestyorkin made 12 saves.

The CSKA - SKA match will begin at 19.30 local time in Moscow. Life78, Match TV and KHL TV HD will broadcast live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
