Torpedo - SKA. Game Three

Torpedo - SKA. Game Three

2 March 2015

After playing the opening two games of the series in Saint Petersburg, SKA and Torpedo now move back to Torpedo's home town of Nizhny Novgorod to play the next two matches. It promises to be a long, hard fought series, as after our team's home games it's all level at 1:1.

The first match took place on Friday the 27th of February, and SKA were simply fantastic. A decisive three goal lead was instated within the opening half of the first period, as Torpedo were caught completely unawares. Eventually SKA won 6:3 after having led 6:1, making it a rather unusual score for a playoff match. Torpedo were forced into pulling their goalkeeper midway through the match, with ex SKA netminder Ivan Kasutin taking the place of Yevgeni Biryukov.

Ivan Kasutin kept his place in net for Saturday's second game, and it proved to be the difference. Unlike on Friday this time it was Torpedo who came bursting out of the blocks, racing away into a very early two goal lead. Roman Rukavishnikov did then get our team on the board, but despite the time remaining SKA couldn't fight back, going down 1:2.

Interestingly every series in both conferences is level at 1:1 except for two: CSKA lead HC Sochi 2:0, as do Ak Bars Avtomobilist.

The Torpedo - SKA match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Nagorny stadium in Nizhny Novgorod. 100 TV and KHL TV will both broadcast the game live, whereas you can keep up to date with events either by following our matchcentre, or our official twitter account.
