Damaging defeat for SKA in Nizhny

24 January 2026

SKA were on the end of a resounding defeat in Nizhny Novgorod, as Torpedo claimed an emphatic 6:0 victory on home ice.

Not at the races from the very first whistle, SKA endured a truly forgettable afternoon on the road in the Volga region, conceding three goals in the opening stanza and not subsequently able to gain any kind of foothold in proceedings.

Sergei Goncharuk made the breakthrough for a dominant Torpedo side in the ninth minute, before further efforts from Vasily Atanasov and Kirill Svishchyov before the 17-minute mark sent Artemiy Pleshkov to the bench in favour of Sergei Ivanov.

Nevertheless, our goalkeeping change didn’t have a positive effect on the flow of the game.

Kirill Vinogradov and Svishchyov got the better of Ivanov in the second stanza, with the former hitting the jackpot on the powerplay.

And, just to rub salt into the wound, the same player grabbed another PP marker in the ensuing third frame to well and truly seal the deal for the opponents.

Our players will now prepare to host Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:44 local time.
