Torpedo - SKA. Match day

27 January 2017

SKA will complete this KHL road trip with a fixture against HC Torpedo in Nizhny Novgorod.

Traditionally, Torpedo have been one of SKA's most difficult opponents in the KHL, with our team failing to take a regulation win in Nizhny Novgorod for a number of years. It promises to be another difficult game today too, as Torpedo currently occupy fifth place of the Western Conference on 95 points. However, during recent games, the Nizhny Novgorod outfit have hit a rough patch of form, losing their past four matches against Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Lokomotiv, Severstal and CSKA Moscow. Their top scorer is forward Dmitry Syomin with 26 points (12+14), while first choice goalkeeper Mikhail Biryukov, who begun the season with Novokuznetsk, holds a 94.5 saves percentage.

After losing to Jokerit last week, SKA have got back to winning ways, beating both Sochi 4:0 and Spartak Moscow 2:1 away. Mikko Koskinen has been between the pipes for those matches, conceding just the one goal. Ilya Kovalchuk, SKA's leading scorer, netted the winning marker in Moscow.

This will be the first meeting against Torpedo this campaign.

The Torpedo - SKA match will begin at 19.30 local time in Nizhny Novgorod. Life78 will broadcast live, and you can follow events on our Twitter account.
