Torpedo - SKA. Match day

The KHL returns today with SKA taking to the road to play HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod away.
There isn't much love lost between these teams, with plenty of history behind this fixture. Just last season SKA played Torpedo in the first round of the KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs, and in five tight matches our club came out on top 4:1. Nevertheless Torpedo have already gained slight revenge since that series defeat, beating SKA 3:1 in Saint Petersburg in this season's third match. Coached by Latvian Peteris Skudra Torpedo have proved a tough match for anyone to play against, and they look set for another run into the post-season currently occupying fourth place of the Western Conference with 70 points. Goaltenders Mikhail Biryukov and Ilya Proskuryakov have both been impressive with 93.3% and 92.4% saves percentages respectively, and their top scorer is forward Linus Videll with 21 points (6+15).
Before the Euro Hockey Tour break SKA took eight wins in a row, and have captured last season's championship winning form. The team does have a game in hand over Torpedo, and a win today could potentially take the club up into fourth of the conference. Forward Vadim Shipachyov continues to have more points than anyone else with 36 (9+27).
The Torpedo - SKA match will begin at 19.00 local time inside the Nagorniy stadium, Nizhny Novgorod. Life78 and KHL TV will both broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events either by following our online match centre or our official Twitter account.
