Evgeny Ketov is finishing his playing career

Evgeny Ketov has taken the decision to end his playing career. The forward will now continue working with SKA as a coach.

After joining SKA in the summer of 2013, Ketov won the KHL Gagarin Cup twice, the Russian championship once, lifted the KHL Continental Cup on two occasions, earned one silver KHL medal and claimed the bronze medal six times. Overall, Ketov made more SKA competitive appearances (541) than anyone else and scored the highest amount of shorthanded goals in KHL history.

SKA Hockey Club thanks Evgeny for his efforts as a player with our team, he has become a true legend of our organisation! We also wish him luck and success as a member of our coaching staff.

Roman Rotenberg:

- Without a doubt, Evgeny is a symbol of modern-day SKA. He participated in nearly all of our club's successes in recent years, and he was always a reliable, committed player on the ice. Playing shorthanded is one of the toughest aspects of ice hockey which requires plenty of commitment, but Evgeny never let the team down. The fact that he is the KHL's leading scorer of shorthanded goals speaks volumes. As a coach with our team, Evgeny will pass his rich experience on to all of us. We're really happy to continue working together!

Evgeny Ketov:

- I can't say that it was easy to take the decision to finish my professional career, but everyone's playing days end sooner or later. It's fantastic that I have immediately been given the opportunity to enter the world of coaching. Thank you to the SKA management for the unbelievable faith, and to all of the fans for their wonderful support across these years. We're only just getting started!
