Sochi Hockey Open. Russian Olympic team - SKA - 4:3 SO

9 August 2017

SKA competed in the Sochi Hockey Open final against the Russian Olympic team. Head coach Oleg Znarok didn't make any serious changes to the line-up, keeping Mikko Koskinen between the pipes. SKA's Igor Shestyorkin was the Russian Olympic side's starting goaltender.

Yegor Korshkov opened the scoring early on for Russia, but SKA soon responded. Alexander Dergachyov and Ilya Kovalchuk struck within minutes, giving our team a 2:1 advantage.

Viktor Tikhonov extended the lead in the second period, however that proved to be SKA's last positive moment in the match. Maxim Chudinov cut the deficit in half with a shot from his own zone which fooled Mikko Koskinen, before Artyom Fyodorov equalised in the third frame.

It went all the way to penalty shots, where the Russian Olympic team came out on top. 4:3, SKA come second at the Sochi Hockey Open.

We note that seven SKA players won the tournament with the Russian Olympic team.
